Farming
Roman Britain was, of course, an agricultural society where most people made their living from farming (although there were many craftsmen). Only a small minority of the population (probably around 10%) lived in towns.
Farms were crucial component in Britain's life. Farmers grew crops and kept animals which is why good weather was vital to farmers; if the crops failed - people and animals starved. Most farms were nothing more than acluster of small buildings. They had a small amount of land, and provided enough to keep the family alive, or in times of good weather little of surplus to sell
